Glitter Siggy Tutorial

I wrote this Tutorial on the 4th July 2006, any similarity to any other tutorial is coincidental.

I have used PSP X in making this tutorial.

Supplies

Xero - Sparkles Plugin - Download Here Please put into your plugin folder.

A Pretty Gradient

A thickish Font - I've used Tartine Script Regular

You can drag this arrow down the page with you to keep your place in the tut.
Script provided by Dynamic Drive.

Ok Let's Begin

Open a transparent canvas 400px x 400px (We will crop later)

Set your fill to your chosen gradient and your stroke to a complimentary colour.

Font size I've used 100 but each font will vary, stroke width 0 - create as vector.

Click to enlarge

Type your text on the canvas, adjust the size using the vector nodes if necessary.

Layers - Convert to Raster

Selections - Select All - Float - Defloat - You should now have marching ants around your text.

Selections - Modify - Expand 2px.

On your layer palette click on the bottom blank layer (Raster 1)

Flood fill with your complimentary colour.

You should now have something like this.

Click to enlarge

Deselect

In your layer palette select raster 2.

Selections - Select All - Float - Defloat - You should now have marching ants around your text.

Layers - Duplicate

Do this twice.

Select the top layer and go to Effects - Plugins - Xero - Sparkles

Use these settings.

Next select 2nd layer down (copy of raster 2)

Effects - Plugins - Xero - Sparkles

Change the density to 10 - ok

Then select the third layer (Raster 2)

Change the Density to 11 - ok

Selections - Deselect

Select Raster 1 in your layer palette - Layers Duplicate twice.

You should now have 6 layers, 3 gradient and 3 backgrounds.

Drag the layers till they are in this order.

Copy (2) Raster 2
Copy (2) Raster 1
Copy Raster 2
Copy Raster 1
Raster 2
Raster 1

When you have then in this order click on the layers I've marked red in turn and go to layers - merge down.

Add a drop shadow to each layer.

I've used

V = 2
H = 2
Opacity = 50
Blur = 5
Colour = Black

Crop and save as a pspimage file.

Open in Animation Shop and save as a .gif.
